Beyerskloof Synergy Cape Blend 2019


Characteristics:
Intense dark red colour. Bouquet of lovely red fruit and cherries, followed by sweet cedar oak aromas. The mouth gives initially an abundance of black fruit, followed by a big juicy soft middle with soft, well rounded tannins. Pleasant lingering aftertaste. Interesting Cape Blend: 41% Pinotage, 23% Merlot, 21% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Shiraz, 5% Cinsaut and 4% Pinot Noir. Matured for 12 to 14 months on French oak, combination of 5% new and 96% 2nd, 3rd and 4th fill.

Food pairing:
Serve with stews, game dishes or lamb.

About the winery:
Beyerskloof is situated in Koelenhof, a beautiful sub region of Stellenbosch. Owner Beyers Truter has earned the title of 'King of Pinotage' specialising in this typical South African grape. His son Anri has clearly inherited his talent: with Diesel Pinotage, he obtained the title of 'Best Young Winemaker of the Year'. Passion and quality, and Pinotage in different styles and price ranges.

More plentiful (& well priced) pinotage (40%) blend with merlot, cab, shiraz, cinsaut & pinot. Generosity, complexity & plush, fragrant red & black berries, fine savoury tannins. Will develop well over 5 years or so. 12-14 months in barrels, 5% new.
