The Basson family of Nooitgedacht farms the bush vine Pinotage themselves in the granite soils of the Paardeberg. Natural low yields and no irrigation. Barrel-aged in 2nd and 3rd fill 225l barrels for 12-14 months. Bottle-aged for 2 years. Appealing black fruit compote aromas, rich with berries and spice. Succulent and ripe in the mouth with raspberry and black cherry. Aroma of nutty creamy oak is well-integrated. Supple and yet textured, refined and rounded with a long, rewarding finish.
Baked or grilled red meats, ground game, full flavour sauces.

The history of L'Ormarins in Franschhoek dates back to 1694 when Huguenot Jean Roi planted 4000 vines beneath the jagged peaks of the Groot Drakenstein Mountains. Current owner is wine connoisseur Anthonij Rupert.
