Uitkyk in situated on the southern slopes of the Simonsberg and is one of the oldest estates of the Cape.

The neoclassical mansion dates from 1788 and is supposedly designed by a French architect. Punchy madame and winemaker Estelle Lourens is constantly busy to increase the quality of the wines, while a group of historians has restored the mansion in its original condition. Popular here are the Chardonnay and the classic wood matured Cabernet: the Carlonet named after the Prussian Baron von Carlowitz, one of the first owners.
