Pighin Merlot D.O.C. Friuli Grave 2020

Characteristics:
Dry medium-bodied Merlot from Friuli Grave region. Well-defined aromas and flavours of cherries, violets and hints of spice. Integrated tannins and lingering aftertaste.

Food pairing:
A classic companion to spaghetti and lasagne. Pairs with burgers, meatloaf, roast turkey, seared salmon, braised ribs, chicken and rabbit casseroles with a fruity element such as apricots or prunes.

Botanica Big Flower Merlot 2016

Characteristics: 
Organic grapes sourced from Stellenbosch. A full-bodied Merlot with fine-grained tannins and great structure that will age well. Wood ageing on 2nd, 3rd and 4th fill barrels, giving a softer extraction. Limited production & vegan friendly.

Food pairing:
Go Italian with spaghetti and meatballs, lasagne and similar veggie dishes, macaroni & cheese, meatloaf and burgers. Grilled chops with thyme and rosemary. Or think steak, especially in a red wine sauce. And roast chicken or turkey.

Cape of Good Hope Paarl Vallei Merlot 2015

Characteristics: 
Single vineyard Merlot planted in prime Somerset-West Helderberg region. Grapes are hand-sorted and fermented in 225 L French oak barrels, with 24 months further wood ageing on these barrels. Yield is 4 ton/ha. Well-structured and complex. Appealing nose with black and blue fruits, hint of dark chocolate. Palate is packed with cherry, bleuberry and black hedgerow fruits. Subtle and integrated oak, long aftertaste. Lovely elegance overall.

Food pairing:
Steak, roast beef or lamb with a simple jus or mushroom sauce. Grilled chops of veal, pork or lamb, especially with thyme and rosemary. Roast chicken, turkey or guineafowl.

Schild Barossa Estate Merlot 2018

Characteristics: 
Dark bright ruby in colour. Silky nose with plum aromas, dark cherry, raspberry and subtle glimpses of vanilla bean, clove and nutmeg spice. In the mouth, the same juicy primary fruit and vanilla bean character alongside flavours of mocha and a faint graphite core. The soft tannins ensure balance. Drink to 2028.

Food pairing: loves a chateaubriand and stews (coq au vin!). Try with your best homemade lasagne or pasta.

Fleur du Cap Unfiltered Merlot 2017

Characteristics:
Intense and dark ruby red colour, a powerful nose of ripe red berries, strawberries and dark chocolate with a nice spicy character. 18 months on new French oak barrels. This Merlot has a maturation potential of 7 years and more.

Food pairing:
Soft stews, herb-crusted lamb, duck breast. Italian dishes.

Coppola Diamond Collection Merlot 2018

Characteristics:
Red forest berries with young plums and anise in the background. A touch of Petite Sirah and Cabernet is added for complexity.

Food pairing:
Fried or grilled red meats, duck and Mediterranean dishes.
