Characteristics:
Dry white wine, with enticing fresh notes of pear, nectarine with a gentle lemon undertone. Zippy citrus vivacity coming through. Medium body with delicious fruit expression, lively acidity and a rounded, full finish which ends dry and clean. Grapes sourced from Darling en Franschhoek.
Food Pairing:
Ideal as an aperitif or delicious with seafood, vegetarian and light dishes with white fish or white meat. In practice? Serve with antipasti, with a salad with shrimps or crab or scampi, risotto with vegetables, pasta with clams, in a light cream sauce or with a fresh tomato sauce. And Pinot Grigio is really delicious with pasta carbonara.
About the winery:
Protea wines are handcrafted at L’Ormarins Wine Estate in Franschhoek. History goes back to 1694 when Huguenot Jean Roi planted 4000 vines beneath the jagged peaks of the Groot Drakenstein Mountains. The range is named after the Protea flower which is so distinctive of the rich Cape Floristic region. The wines are fresh and clean, have an appealing style and are packed in an innovative and re-usable bottle.
