Rupert & Rothschild Vignerons Classique 2017 (1.5L)

Characteristics:
Pure, dark blackcurrant and plum aromas combined with cedar wood and graphite nunaces. Abundant fresh bleuberry and boysenberry flavours with lavish, fine textured tannins and a lingering aftertaste. 17 months on French oak of 300L. 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. Ageing potential of at least 7 years from vintage.

Food pairing:
Excellent with rich meat dishes, fried or smothered, with spicy sauces or as a meditation wine. The winemaker advises braised lamb shoulder with a fynbos jus.

About the winery:
Rupert & Rothschild Vignerons is a joint venture between the Rupert family of South Africa and Baron Benjamin de Rothschild of Château Clarcke from France. The common base is the beautiful estate Fredericksburg, situated between Franschhoek and Paarl. Cellar master Yvonne Lester is the constant link between vineyard and wine cellar, and puts all efforts to obtain modern fruit linked to a classic texture.
