Avondale Anima Chenin Blanc 2017

Characteristics:
Intriguing wine with aromas of melon, pineapple and a touch of honeycomb which is typical for a delicious chenin blanc. On the palate gooseberries, quince. Gentle minerality in the finish.

Food pairing:
Salads with goat cheese and almonds or grilled prawns.

Cape Point Vineyards Noordhoek Sauvignon Blanc 2019

Characteristics:
Very crisp acidity and fresh aftertaste. The cool terroir of Cape Point is excellently represented. Racy Sauvignon Blanc.

Food pairing:
Goes well with pure fish, shellfish. Classy aperitif.

Bloemendal Chardonnay 2017

Characteristics:
Dry full bodied Chardonnay with mineral backbone; aromas and flavours of citrus, lime, nectarine, fresh peaches and young apricots carrying acidity throughout the wine with long finish. Grapes selected from a single vineyard planted on the cool Southern slope of the Kanonberg mountain in Durbanville. 23 year old vines. The wine aged for 11 months on new (40%) and second fill (60%) French oak barrels. Can develop on the bottle for a further 5 tot 8 years. Only 3900 bottles were made of vintage 2016.

Food pairing:
Superb with fish cooked in butter (e.g. sole meunière), roast chicken, poached salmon, seared scallops, mushroom risotto and caesar salad.

Allesverloren Shiraz 2019

Characteristics:
Brilliant ruby red colour, aromas of cigar box, smoked bacon and spice, rich palate with fruit topped with cinnamon, soft tannins with a long finish.

Food pairing:
Combine with red meat: beef, lamb, venison, accompanied by flavourful sauces.

 

Fleur du Cap Unfiltered Merlot 2017

Characteristics:
Intense and dark ruby red colour, a powerful nose of ripe red berries, strawberries and dark chocolate with a nice spicy character. 18 months on new French oak barrels. This Merlot has a maturation potential of 7 years and more.

Food pairing:
Soft stews, herb-crusted lamb, duck breast. Italian dishes.

 

Plaisir de Merle Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

Characteristics:
Ruby red colour, ripe nose with black fruit and dark chocolate. Spicy palette with soft tannins. Matured for 12 months on French oak. Cellaring potential of 10 years and more.

Food pairing:
Baked or grilled red meat or ground game, with spicy sauces.
