Cape of Good Hope Chenin Blanc 2023 Swartland
Characteristics:
Chenin Blanc of exceptional intensity and flavour, balanced by bright acidity and length. The bushvines are planted in Riebeeksrivier on the slopes of the Kasteelberg, with Rhône-like shale soils. Spontaneous fermentation, partly on foudres and French oak, followed by 7 months on fine lees. Nectarine, quince and citrus notes mingle on the nose, underpinned by a subtle chalk aroma. Balanced and vibrant fruit – apricot, bright nectarine and poached quince – subtly framed by creamy oak and a leesy breadth. Long finish with a zesty citrus note on the tail.
Food pairing:
Excellent refined food wine to combine with white fish and seafood.
Wildekrans Sauvignon Blanc 2023
Characteristics:
Dry, elegant and fresh Sauvignon Blanc, clearly influenced by the cool breezes from the Atlantic, showing sea spray, wild herbs and racy acidity. Spent 7 months on its lees, making this Sauvignon Blanc fuller & rounder in style. Intense and aromatic, with aromas of lime, gooseberries and green asparagus.
Food pairing:
Goes well with pure fish, shellfish. Fresh as an aperitif.
Plaisir Chardonnay 2022
Characteristics:
Pale yellow with green hue. Crisp & fresh citrus note rounded by tropical fruits and spices by wood ageing. Creamy Chardonnay with excellent balance and long finish. Partially fermented on French oak, 9 month on the lees.
Food pairing:
Combine dishes of white fish in butter or creamy sauce, white meat, ris de veau, ripened cheeses
Neil Ellis Groenekloof Syrah 2021
Characteristics:
Medium-bodied, with fresh aromatics of dark berries. Long layered palate, with fine & chalky tannins and notes of clove and black pepper. Moderate wood maturation of 16 months on 5% new and used French oak (500 l) to maintain fruit integrity. Grapes sourced from Groenekloof near Darling.
Food pairing:
Excellent with red meat: beef, lamb, venison, grilled or baked, accompanied by spicy sauces.
Hasher Batrachella Pinotage 2022
Elegant, cool climate Pinotage planted in the highly regarded maritime ward of Upper-Hemel-and-Aarde-Valley on northerly slopes at 210m above sea level, 5km from the cool South Atlantic Ocean. The wine is named after the Batrachella Capensis, an endangered frog species living on the estate. Part of the wine underwent spontaneous fermentation with native yeast strains. Aged on French 228L oak for 12 months, 10% new. 2022 is the maiden vintage of this wine, but the vineyards were planted in 1998. Well structured, balanced with lovely fruit aromas and flavours. Dry with tannins firmly controlled.

Fleur du Cap Series Privée Cabernet Sauvignon 2017
Characteristics:
Intense deep ruby color, complex aromas of cassis, graphite, cumin and vanilla, pepper and truffle, firm tannin structure, complex and powerful. 12 months of wood maturation on new French barrels.
Food pairing:
Quality red meats in rich preparation, roased lamb. Well flavoured sauces or on its own, as a wine for meditation.
