Dark ruby red. Beautifully integrated nuances on the nose of honey suckle with subtle hints of black cherry and sweet spice. Praline and candied orange peel on the palate with wonderful balance between acidity and alcohol, finished off with lingering spicy fruit and a hint of dark chocolate ganache.
Excellent enjoyed on its own or served with desserts.
About the winery:
Alexanderfontein is made on Ormonde, located in Darling, near the Atlantic Ocean. The grapes can ripen slowly because of the cooling effect of the Atlantic sea breezes. The strongest winds are stopped by a slight slope close to the sea and thus young plants and blossoms are protected. The vineyards are not irrigated, and the grapes are still picked by hand.
