Characteristics:
Complex and intriguing Cabernet Franc from Franschhoek, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon was added. Natural fermentation on large wooden tanks. The wine aged for 24 months in 50% new French oak, was bottled unfiltered and bottle-aged for 3 years before release. Bright floral notes of cherry blossom and violet mingle with dark fruit, pencil shavings, cedar and spice aromatics. A plush entry to the palate with succulent plum and black cherry, dusted with spice. Refined, poised and structured, the oak frames the fruit well and also plays with the rich cocoa and cedar nuances. Complex and silky with a lingering finish. Cellaring potential of 10+ years.

Food pairing:
Serve with the best of red meat, beef, venison and lamb.

About this winery:
The history of the winery dates back to 1694 when Huguenot Jean Roi planted 4000 vines beneath the jagged peaks of the Groot Drakenstein Mountains. Current owner is international businessman and wine connoisseur Anthonij Rupert. The flagship portfolio carries his own name. Only the best grapes are selected and the cellar is state of the art.
