Jan Boland Coetzee is a taciturn man who plays an interesting role on the South African wine scene since 1967.

The cellars of Vriesenhof have all the modern equipment, big old round casks, but also brand new Allier barrels. Newborn wines ripen in ideal temperature and humidity conditions, one beside another, each from a different piece of land or any other grape variety or clone.
