Ripe, subtle and easy Cabernet Sauvignon with ample plum, black berry fruit, cherry and spice flavours. Harmonious with lovely marriage of oak and fruit – nothing dominates. Eminently drinkable with a long, rewarding finish. 12 months on 2nd and 3rd fill French oak. Grapes from Groenekloof in the cool Darling region. 90 pts by James Suckling.
Serve with steak, roast or grilled lamb or portabello mushrooms. Cab likes seasoning with garlic, rosemary, some mint.

Protea wines are handcrafted at L’Ormarins Wine Estate in Franschhoek. History goes back to 1694 when Huguenot Jean Roi planted 4000 vines beneath the jagged peaks of the Groot Drakenstein Mountains. The range is named after the Protea flower which is so distinctive of the rich Cape Floristic region. The wines are fresh and clean, have an appealing style and are packed in an innovative and re-usable bottle.
