Characteristics:
Fine Burgundy style, medium-bodied and elegant Chardonnay, vineyards planted on decomposed granite soils in the Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, where maritime mist typically enters the valley floor in the evening and exits early in the morning, also benefitting fully from the gentle air stream deriving from the cool south Atlantic Ocean. Fine expression of delicate fruit with lime, citrus blossom, and peach. Light oak regime of 9 months sur-lie in seasoned oak. Sophisticated & terroir expressive, textured and showing pure salinity.

Food pairing:
Very versatile, can be enjoyed on its own, combined with fresh oysters it is a delight. Pairs well with seafood dishes, grilled fish and poultry, creamy pastas and even spicy foods like vegetable curries.

About this winery:
Céline Haspeslagh and Frederik Herten have been the young dynamic Belgian owners of Hasher Family Estate in the beautiful Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley in South Africa since 2021. The winery on the banks of the Onrus river is 180 hectares in size and the focus lies on premium Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, for which the region has an excellent reputation. Their mission: terroir driven & elegant cuvées, with respect for the rich biodiversity of the Cape Floral Kingdom -recently rewarded with a WWF/World Wildlife Fund membership.
