Characteristics:
Organic grapes sourced from Stellenbosch. Wood ageing in 2nd, 3rd and 4th fill barrels, giving a softer extraction. An elegant, full-bodied red which displays dark fruit flavours paired with savoury, earthy undertones. Bright acidity and firm tannins make this a versatile food wine. Limited production & vegan friendly.
Food pairing:
Go Italian with spaghetti and meatballs, lasagne and similar veggie dishes, macaroni & cheese, meatloaf and burgers. Grilled chops with thyme and rosemary. Or think steak, especially in a red wine sauce. And roast chicken or turkey.
About the winery:
Ginny Povall is the owner of the charming Sugarbird Manor and Protea Height Farm, located in Devon Valley, 10 minutes from the cozy Stellenbosch. It features 10ha flower soil and 5ha vineyard. Ginny is a winemaker and specializes in Chenin Blanc and Pinot Noir.
