Characteristics
Cabernet Sauvignon from Lodi, with its terroir of sandy soils, warm summer days and cool nights due to the proximity of the Pacific Ocean. The harvest takes place in the early morning to protect the grapes from the heat. Partly fermented and aged on a mix of American and French oak for 3 months. A portion of the wine rested for 2 months in used Bourbon barrels. Aromas of black pepper, black cherries and berries, violets and toasted notes. Flavours of black fruit, spices, clove, blackcurrant and earthy tones. Broad tannins and a beautiful finish.

Food pairing
Try with pure beef with mild sauce, lamb, rib-eye or fettucine pasta with cream and sage.

About this winery

The name "1924" refers to the American Prohibition era and the year the Delicato family, owners of this brand, planted the first vineyards in Lodi, California. Lodi is warm enough to produce beautifully ripe grapes, while cool nights add extra depth of flavour, the best of both worlds. What truly sets 1924 Wines apart is the barrel ageing. Traditional oak barrels for the Buttery Chardonnay and some reds get Bourbon and Whiskey barrel ageing. Surprising, unique and incredibly flavourful.
