Characteristics
Cabernet Sauvignon from Lodi, where the terroir is defined by sandy soils, warm summer days and cool nights due to the proximity of the Pacific Ocean. Cabernet is a slow ripener and the harvest takes place at night to protect the grapes from the heat. Aromas of black pepper, black cherries and violets, flavours of black fruit, spices, clove and blackcurrant. Partly fermented and aged on a mix of American and French oak.

Food pairing
Food friendly with gently grilled red meats, hearty stews, BBQ or Italian dishes.

About this winery

The name "1924" refers to the American Prohibition era and the year the Delicato family, owners of this brand, planted the first vineyards in Lodi, California. Lodi is warm enough to produce beautifully ripe grapes, while cool nights add extra depth of flavour, the best of both worlds. What truly sets 1924 Wines apart is the barrel ageing. Traditional oak barrels for the Buttery Chardonnay and some reds get Bourbon and Whiskey barrel ageing. Surprising, unique and incredibly flavourful.
