Characteristics
Full-bodied red wine with a twist, thanks to a partial ageing of 2 months in premium whiskey barrels. A robust blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Malbec. Abundant aromas of vanilla, raspberries and maple syrup. The whiskey barrel ageing adds notes of caramel, vanilla and toasted oak. A beautiful balance between freshness, tannins and a subtle oak touch.
Food pairing
For preparations with beef or lamb with rich sauces. Think of stew or venison. Great with chateaubriand and coq au vin.
About this winery
The name "1924" refers to the American Prohibition era and the year the Delicato family, owners of this brand, planted the first vineyards in Lodi, California. Lodi is warm enough to produce beautifully ripe grapes, while cool nights add extra depth of flavour, the best of both worlds. What truly sets 1924 Wines apart is the barrel ageing. Traditional oak barrels for the Buttery Chardonnay and some reds get Bourbon and Whiskey barrel ageing. Surprising, unique and incredibly flavourful.
