Characteristics:
Rebellion 2024 is Beyerskloof's newest cuvée, responding to the trend towards gentler oak ageing and minimal intervention. A subtle touch of oak is achieved through ageing in third-fill barrels. Dark red colour, typical Pinotage bouquet with upfront cherries. Pronounced palate with black fruit, fine black berries, plum, raspberries and delicate oak aromas. Well structured, yet elegant, with a sweet core and a juicy aftertaste. 100% Stellenbosch grapes from 24 years old bush vines. 2024 was an excellent vintage with a smaller crop. Ready to enjoy now or drink in 5 to 8 years.Â
Food pairing:
Red meats in general and oriental cuisine, with tempered spiciness and sweet and sour touch, or with chutneys.
About the winery:
Beyerskloof is situated in Koelenhof, a beautiful sub region of Stellenbosch. Owner Beyers Truter has earned the title of 'King of Pinotage' specialising in this typical South African grape. His son Anri has clearly inherited his talent: with Diesel Pinotage, he obtained the title of 'Best Young Winemaker of the Year'.
