Full bodied wine, with intense aromas and flavours of black berries and an earthiness carrying through, with notes of spices, clove, and ground pepper. Beautiful balance between fruit, tannins and acidity. The wine aged for 18 months on French oak barrels. Grapes selected from a single vineyard on the Tierberg slopes in Durbanville.

About the winery:
Established in 1702 as a farm providing fresh produce to the East Indian ships on their way to the spice islands. It is located in Durbanville Wine Valley region, with vineyards on the south facing slopes of Kanonkop to the north facing Tygerberg Hills. Deep soils with good water retention allow dryland farming. Cooling sea breezes, night-time mists and close proximity to the ocean are all beneficial factors when it comes to the quality of the grapes.
