Glen Carlou Vineyards Grand Classique 2000


Characteristics:
Blend of Bordeaux varietals: Cabernet Sauvignon 51%, Merlot 41%, Malbec 4%, Cabernet Franc 3%, Petit Verdot 1%. 24 months on French oak (50% new barrels). Brilliant, deep colour, aromas of cloves, sandalwood and black cassis berries, ripe tannins with ripe fruit and an excellent balance.

Food pairing:
Delicate beef, gently spiced. Slow stews of beef or venison.

About this winery:
Glen Carlou Vineyards is located near Paarl, in the heart of South Africa's premier vineyards and was once part of the original Simonsvlei land. On 108,5 ha Walter Finlayson made highly acclaimed wines, followed today by his son David.
