Bottelarij is a premium Pinotage region. Dark ruby colour, with prominent red fruit aromas of plum and cherry and seductive smoky notes and dark truffle. The fruit and oak components are married seamlessly, luscious red fruit follows on the palate, with an enduring finish. Food Pairing:
Baked or grilled red meats, ground game, full flavour sauces. The winemaker suggests fire-grilled springbok with a rich sauce.
About the winery:
Hazendal was recently beautifully restored. With attention to wine, good food, an extensive tea experience and "Wonderdal", an interactive playroom for the kids. Hazendal is located in Bottelary Hills in Stellenbosch, premium region for, among others, Pinotage. Bottelarij Hills has different slopes, undergoes the cool influences of False Bay in the south and the Atlantic Ocean in the west: an ideal recipe for a range of microclimates. Height of the vineyards vary between 150 m and 400 m. Lady Winemaker is Clarisse Sciocatti-Langeveldt. The ‘Christoffel Hazenwinkel’ range is named after the first owner of the estate.
