Characteristics:
Groenlandberg is an isolated, cloud catching mountain in the premium Elgin region. The vines high up on the mountain thrive in the cool climate. Aromas and flavours of fresh strawberry, cranberry and red cherry complemented by earthy notes, fresh spearmint
and some cinnamon spice. The tannins are soft and well rounded yet an attractive
vegetal bite adding structural integrity.
Food pairing:
Serve with pigeon d’Anjou or roast chicken. Pairs with lamb, served pink or with carpaccio, roast pork with herbs and fennel or sweetbreads. Dishes with morels and other wild mushrooms, or mushroom risotto. Tempting with roast salmon or grilled lobster. Vegetarian braised green vegetables with tomato dressing.
About the winery:
Oak Valley Estate is a dynamic family farm on the northern side of the Elgin Mountain basin, producing premium wine. Elgin is statistically the coolest region in South Africa, which enables the grapes to ripen slowly, enhancing flavour development. 30 hectares are currently planted with vines. Elegance is king!
