Characteristics:
Textbook Pinot Grigio from Italy’s Collio, stunningly fruity with real zest and a blossomy scent, while still retaining enough acidity to keep the wine lively. Bright straw yellow with shades of amber. Floral and fruity aromas, with delicate notes of acacia blossoms and pineapple. Dry and full bodied, well balanced with an elegant aromatic varietal finish. It gains character over time and can age well for 3 to 4 years. Enjoy at 12°C and uncork just before serving.
Food pairing:
Refreshing and versatile wine, many people's favourite … go for seafood and vegetable based antipasta. Pairs well with light pasta sauces including seafood like clams, some cream or fresh tomato. Delicious with light seafood or vegetable based risottos, seafood salads, with crab, prawns or shrimps. Try it with Sushi!
About this winery:
Pighin family winery is situated in North Eastern Italy’s DOC region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia. Grapes are sourced from two different vineyards, in the renowned regions of Friuli Grave and Collio, which allows two different expressions of Pinot Grigio and Chardonnay. The Collio property at Capriva, along the eastern border of Grave del Friuli and within sight of Slovenia, lies on some of the sunniest and most beautiful hillsides of the area, all with southern exposure. The yield is limited: only 5 or 6 tons of fruit per hectare. The Pighin family vineyards are maintained with organic farming methods on 185 ha.
