Characteristics:
Well balanced Bordeaux blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot. All grapes are 100% hand picked and selected. Emma uses traditional quality winemaking skills like cold maceration, temperature-controlled fermentation, and gentle and slow press. 30% of the wine was aged on French oak for 12 months, the balance rested on stainless steel. Fresh, ripe aromas and flavours of dark fruit with cherry, blackberry, hawthorn, mint and cigar. It has a lingering and smooth finish.

Food pairing:
Emma Gao pairs this wine with cumin lamb, beef stew, lamb chops and roasted duck.

About the winery:
Silver Heights in Ningxia China was founded in 1999, by Gao Lin. He began planting top Cabernet Sauvignon vines sourced from France. His daughter, Gao Yuan (also known as Emma) obtained a Master Degree in Oenology in Bordeaux, France. She interned at several historic Bordeaux wineries, including the world-famous Château Calon-Ségur. The Helan Mountain Eastern Foothills in the Ningxia wine region are situated between the western part of Helan Mountain and the eastern part of Yellow River.
The New York Times’ journalist Gérard Colin wrote about Emma Gao: “She’s considered the best winemaker, with practically the best wine, in all of China, Emma put Ningxia on the map.”
